a burgundy experience

We present customized three to five day adventures organized in a seminar format, set in world famous vineyards, wineries, restaurants, historical sites, and more.  The focus of each seminar is flexibly shaped around the clients' interests, expertise, and budget.

Our most successful profile is a group of five to ten friends or family members with similar life experiences. They often start or end their respective travels in different corners of Europe, and rendez-vous with us for their time in Burgundy.

Seminars are conducted in English, with expert translation as needed.

burgundy

Beaune, a town of 20,000 lucky people, is the center of the Burgundian wine world and is just over three hours by car southeast of Paris.

Within a half hour north or south one can find the legendary vineyard plots of Montrachet, Corton Charlemagne, and Chambertin.  In between, Meursault, Pommard, and Vosne Romanée proudly display their heritage.

The Climats and Terroirs of Burgundy have recently been designated as a UNESCO Heritage site.

A dozen starred restaurants await within an hour's drive.  Locally sourced wine bars and bistros are too numerous to mention.

Our groups visit winemakers in their cellars to taste the latest vintages.  With a little luck, some older bottles are opened so we can follow a wine's evolution.

life in beaune

From the famous outdoor market to the thousand year old buildings to the classical dishes, Beaune and greater Burgundy offer a memorable atmosphere of sights, flavors, and aromas.

terroir

The "sense of place" is of utmost importance in Burgundy.  We explore the vineyards to visualize the hierarchy of quality and price. We seek to understand the nuances of similar but different vine locations.

Unique seminar Itineraries

Our events are customized for groups of five to ten at any level of interest or expertise.

Wine and food lovers.  Wine and food professionals.   Families celebrating an anniversary or birthday.

Overnight accommodations range from city centric luxury hotels to country inns.

Tasting visits may take place casually  wandering from barrel to barrel or in a seated discussion group setting.  Sometimes we know the wines in advance, and other times we taste them blind.  After all, it is a seminar!

Our meals can be a blend of fancy and casual; haute cuisine and comfort food; even a barbecue.

Visits to historical sites and bicycle rental or hiking outings can be accomplished easily for a day's break from wine tasting as well.

Tasting a wine at home or in a restaurant nearby may give pleasure, but being able to see the hillside or soil where the grapes have grown provides an experience that can not be duplicated.  Some Burgundian vineyards can be traced back to Roman times.  Some have been in the same families for centuries.  This rich history comes to life as we walk among the vines.
